All words that appear in a single line in the dictionary synonym table are linked. This means that when searching for a synonym of a keyword, more media will be found that just those items that have that keyword. Media tagged with synonyms of the search term are also found.
Example: Keyword “car” has the synonyms “vehicle” and “automobile”. A search for “vehicle” will find not only all media tagged with “car”, but also all items tagged with “automobile”. The same applies when searching for any of the other synonyms.
Note: The case of letters is ignored in synonym searches.
Synonyms in the pixx.io dictionary relate to all indexed metadata content. This means that all image properties that are included in the pixx.io search are compared to a synonym. It is necessary to keep this mind when creating the synonym table in order to avoid confusion caused by seemingly incorrect search results.
Example: The synonym table for the keyword “auto” contains the following synonyms:
- Car
- Vehicle
- Automobile
- Motorcar
When searching for “vehicle”, pixx.io results an image of a parrot. Why has this happened?
The reason is because the image description contains the following text: “The parrot automatically repeats everything it hears”
pixx.io searches a number of different fields for the search term and its synonyms “auto”, “car”, “automobile” and “motorcar”. This includes the description field for each image, which in the case of our parrot image, contains the word “automatically”.
Keywords consisting of several can be found: e.g. “Autobiography”
